No Monkeying Around with Email Marketing Platforms: Mailchimp vs. Constant Contact

Monkey see, monkey do. Hold it right there. Not all email marketing platforms are created equal. In this edition of the blog, we’re talking Mailchimp vs. Constant Contact. Sure, there’s other noteworthy email marketing services, but these are the current go-to names driving email communications among small businesses.

Mailchimp

This platform is anything but static – it’s constantly evolving to keep up with modern demand for superior digital features, functions and appearance. Top of the list its drip campaign capability, or in simpler terms, email a message once and have it automatically sent again and again to people who meet your pre-defined criteria. If you want insight into specifics related to open rates, Mailchimp’s got the capability with its in-depth reporting functionality, including click-throughs, open- and bounce-rates. It’s got unlimited storage for uploaded images, along with flexibility for layout and image placement, although its number of templates is limited. Users can send test variations of their message to small groups to determine best version. All this, but you’ll never reach a customer service rep via phone, its email contact only.

Constant Contact

Although not nearly as many businesses call upon Constant Contact for email communications as they do the former, this one remains one of the most popular email solutions currently available. With gallery stock images and a slightly higher deliverability rate, Constant Contact allows for no email automation beyond auto responders and personalized emails, and there’s no ability for automating test emails. Leading features setting this platform aglow is its availability to provide real-time support for troubleshooting and inquiries, and its assortment of templates.

Two seemingly similar email marketing services and yet both have distinct features and restrictions. At Focus Marketing + PR, we’re partial to Mailchimp (if you hadn’t guessed it already) and for good reason. If you’re in the market for an email marketing platform or you’re looking to make the leap from Constant Contact to Mailchimp, don’t go at it alone.
